Non-urgent advice: Ordering Repeat Prescriptions Online
Leaving home in the rain in winter to post your repeat prescription isn't at the top of most people's to do lists. Good news — you can order your prescriptions online, anytime, from anywhere.
Yes - this means you can order while watching "The Chase" in your slippers in a way that can be more accurate (no more forgotten items or misheard requests).
How to do it (step by step):
Got a smartphone?
- Get the NHS App – free on smartphone or tablet (Apple or Google Play).
- Click here to download The NHS App on an iPhone/Apple Store
- Click here to download The NHS App on an Android/Google phone from the Play Store
- Log in / create an NHS login – follow the prompts, it’s simple.
- Tap “Request repeat prescriptions” – nice and obvious. Then, pick what you need.
- Select your pharmacy – double-check it’s the right one.
- Send your order – done! Your GP and pharmacy handle the rest.
No smartphone? No problem.
Already got an account?
- Go to https://www.nhsapp.service.nhs.uk/login
- Read the information as you scroll to the bottom and click the "Continue" button
- If you have already got an account, enter your email address and password to login
- Password slipped your mind? Use this link to reset it https://access.login.nhs.uk/forgotten-password
- Tap “Request repeat prescriptions” – nice and obvious. Then, pick what you need.
- Select your pharmacy – double-check it’s the right one.
- Send your order – done! Your GP and pharmacy handle the rest.
No smartphone and no account?
- You can create an account using a computer/laptop here https://access.login.nhs.uk/register/create-account-steps
- Follow the prompts - e.g. enter email address, create a password, verify email to get set up.
- Once set up, go to https://www.nhsapp.service.nhs.uk/login and log in to the account you created
- Tap “Request repeat prescriptions” – nice and obvious. Then, pick what you need.
- Select your pharmacy – double-check it’s the right one.
- Send your order – done! Your GP and pharmacy handle the rest.
💡 Tip: Don't see the medication you want to order? It's likely not the right time, medications will only be available to order when you should be running out.

✅ Get Familiar and Open the NHS App or website and find the "Request repeat prescriptions" section. Even just finding it counts.

Q: I don’t have a smartphone. Can I still order online?
A: Yes! You can use a computer or tablet - scroll back up to find out more - look for the headin "No smartphone? No problem!"
Q: I’m worried I’ll press the wrong button.
A: Don’t worry — the NHS App can’t be “broken” by accident. Take it slow and ask for help if needed. Local libraries and community centres can also walk you through it.
